There are several schools of Feng Shui but all will agree about the way a bedroom should be arranged to benefit from the Feng Shui energy that you seek. This article will look at a few elements of your bedroom but will not go into Feng Shui colors.

We all consider our bedroom our sanctuary, it is the most private place in the house. We only share it with those that we trust, more than any other room in the house it is a part of ourselves.

Are you a very open person, do you give access to your bedroom?
Or do you carefully close the door behind you when leaving the room?
Did you decorate this room last, after having done the rest of the house?
If so then you probably tend to place yourself last, after the needs of others. If you want to be treated with respect you must treat your bedroom with respect, because it really represent you.

Your bedroom should be situated to the rear of the house, if possible to the utmost right corner, far from the street which is linked to relations. This location is where energy is softest, and most feminine. The room should be warm and give a feeling of security. It should not be disorganized or messy.

If the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning is a pile of clothes on a chair, your first reaction is to think that you should clean up, and that will tire you out even before you start the day. If your closet is full of clothes and shoes that you never wear, it means you do not need them. Get rid of them and you will feel better right away.

Your bedroom is not a library, do not put in a bookshelf, it is not an office, do not put in a desk or you will have a tendency to go to work sometimes even before you are fully dressed, or you will work late and your sleep will not be as restful as you would want it to be. Your sub-conscience will continue to work on the problems that are troubling your days.

Choice and position of the bed

It is highly recommended to sleep on a natural wood bed (avoid laminated woods) choose an eco-friendly wood as much as possible. Remove all metal or mechanical parts from your bed. Do not use a metal based box spring or support. It is better to use wood slats.

Your mattress should be made of natural fibers, and you should opt for linen or cotton bedding. Synthetic fibers create static electricity, thousands of volts can be generated with very little movement and that can interfere with body functions.

The best to achieve a feeling of security is to place the bed perpendicular to the door, with the head of the bed close to the wall but at least a few inches (6 to 8) away from it.

You should never place the foot of the bed directly facing the door, this is called the ‘coffin position’, if space is too small then you can cover the door with a curtain.

Feng Shui bedrooms are not always easy to realize but are worth the effort.
