Embroidery sewing machines have been turning out stunning embroidery designs for years.  Before computers, sewing machine embroidery was done by “punching” designs on paper tape and then run through an embroidery sewing machine.  If you had one error it could ruin an entire design.   The term “punching” still exists today in digitizing software for embroidery. The process of using computer software to create and edit embroidery designs, stitch by stitch, is digitizing.

Besides having a digitized design file there are other components to consider when sewing a machine embroidery design.

There is hooping.  Embroidery sewing machines come with hoops that attach to the sewing machine. Hooping is putting the fabric into an embroidery sewing machine hoop and making it stable and taught. The fabric MUST stay in the same position while the sewing machine embroiders the design. Machine Embroidery digitizing is very precise.  If the fabric moves, the design will not stitch out correctly.

You need to know about stabilizer.
The stabilizer “stiffens” the fabric to hold it taut as the embroidery sewing machine does it’s work, working in conjunction with proper hooping.  The stabilizer is added to the fabric when hooping.  Sometimes you have a bottom and top stabilizer depending on the fabric to be embroidered.

There are different types of stabilizers available each with a different purposes or use.  Some are used for below the fabric you are embroidering. Some are used on the top. Napped fabric, such as fleece and terry cloth, need a stabilizer on top to hold the nap down and prevent the loops of fabric from poking through the embroidery design and on the bottom for bottom stitch stabilization. Water soluble and Heat Away are commonly used as a top side stabilizer. Water soluble stabilizer will dissolve in water. Heat away turns to ash with the heat of an iron. Either one will hold the fabric down and leave no trace of the stabilizer once removed.

Decorating your Christmas tree with vintage ornaments can be a beautiful alternative to conventional ornaments. There are many vintage ornaments to choose from which come from different areas and time periods. You can easily decorate a vintage Christmas tree by following a few simple tips. Everyone loves a tree decorated in vintage Victorian style. That is because during this era things were much more decorative including what people wore. Decorating your tree in this style does not have to be expensive.

The first thing you will need to do is find yourself a Christmas tree. This tree should be between five and eight feet tall and have full branches. If your home can accommodate a taller tree it will make if even more breathtaking when finished. It is important to find a tree that is a rich green or bluish green color.

Lace is often associated with the Victorian era. Silk and velvet are other materials that were popular as well. Making ornaments with in a vintage style can be a great activity for the whole family. You will need bulb ornaments and velvet, lace and silk. These can easily be found in second hand stores. Ribbon can also be used on these ornaments.

To create the ornament you will want to cut the fabric in a square large enough to cover the entire ball ornament. Once this is done place it over the ornament and secure it with a piece of ribbon. Using an extra long piece of ribbon allows it to hang down adding beauty to the ornament. If you would like you can attach a silk flower to the ornament at this point. Once this is done the ornament is ready to go onto the tree.

There are many vintage Christmas tree ideas to use when decorating your tree. Popular times to pull from are the 1960s, the frontier times, old Germany and those from your childhood.

Once the ornaments are on the tree add small white Christmas lights to enhance the look. If you prefer you could use Christmas lights that are rose colored to add to the vintage effect. Red, purple and white are good choices for ornament colors.

Wall sconces can be used artistically to create splashes of light or color on an otherwise blank wall.  Many homes have a blank stretch of wall facing the street between the garage and the front door.  A wall sconce can be used to not only provide some light for safety, but also can add an area of light or color to the wall.  This same opportunity for decoration exists on backyard walls as well.

A solar powered wall sconce with LED lights can easily be put up and there is no need to run wires.  And once it’s up, you’ll have more light, a better looking piece of property and all without adding to your electric bill.

Another advantage of the LED light solar powered wall sconce is that since it uses LED lighting, you can choose from many colors to add that artistic flair to an otherwise featureless wall.

Not only useful for homes, wall sconces can perform these same functions for a business.  It’s important for businesses to look prosperous, and having that extra touch can make the difference between gaining a new customer or not.  It’s a small investment that can make a difference.

Wall sconce lighting is available in a number of styles and designs.  Some have been crafted to resemble designs of old.  And, since wall sconces are one of the oldest forms of lighting, especially outdoor lighting, there are quite a few models that will add just the right touch to your property.  Wall sconce designs are not limited just to old styles.  Many are sleek, contemporary designs that can fit in with the most modern of architectures.  There are nautical wall sconces for those who favor a more seafaring flavor in their surroundings.  Whatever the style or design is that you need or desire, rest assured that there is wall sconce that will fulfill that need.
