One of the most stressful things in life is home remodeling, especially when it involves your kitchen.  The prospect of being without your kitchen for weeks, and even months, while the work is being done is a daunting one, not to mention incredibly disruptive to you and your family.  This is one reason, among many, that you must plan carefully, before the work even begins, in order to make certain that your project is completed in as little time as possible and at a price you can afford.  So when planning your kitchen renovation, ask yourself the following question: What do I need to think about and do in order to get ready for the project?

Here’s where you really need to think through, in practical terms, the amount of disruption that your kitchen renovation is going to cause.  Depending on the scope of the project, you may need to think about things like relocating the refrigerator and the microwave, where you are going to wash the dishes (when our kitchen was being expanded, we ended up washing dishes in the bathroom sink, which was way to small for the job, and we even ended up washing some pots and pans in the bathtub), how you are going to cook, where you are going to put the table and chairs, where you will sit, etc.  Perhaps you will have to replace your chairs for a time with some stools that have   a comfortable bar stool cover.   And don’t forget your baby’s high chair.  You’ll have to put that somewhere too (maybe when the project is finished you can find a nice high chair pad to match the new décor). If your project takes place in the summer months, then both cooking and eating outside is a possibility.  But what are you going to do if the project is started in the winter?  Maybe that isn’t even an option for you.  You can save yourself a great deal of aggravation, and increase the likelihood that your remodeling project will run as quickly and as smoothly as possible, with just a little thought and planning beforehand.
