The square extending dining table is similar in form and function as the round or rectangular dining table, apart from the obvious difference in shape. The square shape of the table when not in its extended form means that it may be pushed up flat against a wall taking it further out of the way if it is in a high-traffic part of the house, some might see this as a slight advantage over a round extending dining table.

Generally speaking a square dining table is much smaller and more compact than a rectangular dining table and would be perfect if the usual setting was to seat 2 to 4 people. When extended, the table can be converted into a rectangular table that could seat 6 to 8 people or more if the extension was even larger.

The simplest and possibly the most common type of square extending dining table is the oak table. Oak is one of those types of wood that is very easy to use and provides a look and feel that many people trust. A winding mechanism attached to the underside of the table top will allow the table to be converted with a minimum of trouble and the wood panels would slot firmly into place.

Other types of materials are also perfectly suited for use in the creation of an extending table with just about any of the popular hardwoods: cherry, walnut, maple, mahogany or the softwood of pine providing a table that will look good and function well in the dining room.

Extending dining tables provide the versatility that many people look for when planning their dining room design. Sometimes space is at a premium and if the every day configuration requires a simple square dining table then buying an extendable table meets the needs of your life in everyday mode and in party mode.

No matter whether you prefer a classic dining table that has been handcrafted in the finest timber or a more modern contemporary table of steel and glass, the extending option is available across a wide range of tables. The fact that you want a square dining table shouldn’t limit you terribly much with many styles and brands covering all popular shapes and sizes.

Dining tables come in all kinds of shapes and sizes and they are also made out of all kinds of materials. One of the more fancy materials that is also quite variable in looks is the marble dining table. Marble is a beautiful material to bring into the home and it can create a contemporary look just as easily as it can give the appearance of a traditional looking piece of furniture.

The cool stone façade of the marble creates a solid piece of furniture that you can rely on for many years. Marble is a versatile type of stone that is available in a range of colors from light – almost white – to a darker more textured appearance. The shade of marble that you might want to buy your dining table in can be matched against the color palette of the rest of the room.

Marble has been the kind of material that has been synonymous with opulence and extravagance for many years. It is the sort of material that never really goes out of style. It is an expensive type of stone and it always manages to look good.

When you buy a marble dining table you should be careful to ensure that the table base looks solid enough to withstand the weight of the marble. You should also become acquainted with the way the marble has been set on the base and whether it has been fixed or simply placed on top.

Marble Top Counter Height Dining Table

You don’t have to be tethered to a standard size dining table if you want marble. In fact you also don’t have to buy a standard height table either. There is a large range of marble top counter height dining tables available in stores everywhere that will give you the type of marble dining table at which stools may be used for seating. If provides a casual elegance to any room and with the marble top surface it also adds a cool chic look.

Black Marble Dining Table

A particularly striking table is a black marble dining table for the deep richness that is provided in the marble table top. Not only can marble be used as the table top but it can also be used very effectively as the table base. A glass dining table that sits on top of a black marble dining table base makes a piece of furniture that is a sight to behold. This type of contemporary beauty is innovative and fresh.

Marble Dining Table Shapes and Sizes

As with all popular types of dining tables the marble dining tables are available in a range of shapes to suit all tastes. Whether it’s a square, rectangle, oval or round dining table you want it is possible to find them in any or all of them. Seating arrangements require that these types of tables are also available in sizes starting at small 2 seaters up to monster 12 seat dining tables. Due to the weight of the table and the nature with which extending dining tables operate it is very rare to find a marble dining table that may be extended.

There are some special requirements that a marble dining table will require when cleaning the marble but these should be available at the point of purchase.

Buying a marble dining table is a big deal. No matter how large the table is, this particular piece of furniture is going to weigh quite a bit. It will sit in the same spot for the majority of its life and it should serve the family through many memorable meals.

Although most of us immediately think of the dining table when we talk about tables in the home, but there are so many more places in which tables are used that the options are almost endless. Tables are very handy furniture items that are used as display stands, writing desks, work spaces and storage spaces. Walk into almost every room in the house and you can be justified for expecting to see at least one table somewhere.

In the bedroom most people have at least one table situated somewhere around the room and in the master bedroom you generally have a minimum of two, one on either side of the bed. A desk is usually located somewhere in the room, particularly if the room doubles as an office or as a child’s study.

In the lounge room you will see any number of tables scattered around the room for one purpose or another. A coffee table usually sits in the middle of the floor, a handy place for all sorts of items such as the remote control or a scattering of magazines. Then you’ve got a couple of end tables that are usually situated beside a sofa or lounge chair. Perhaps you have a special reading chair and next to it is a lamp table.

In the hall you may have a narrow table placed just inside the door where you might drop the keys or the mail as you walk in. The table you use doesn’t have to be a particular size to claim it as a functional and necessary part of the furniture.

Walk into the bathroom and there is sometimes a small table placed beside the wash basin as an additional place to hold cleaning items. Some kitchens also double as an eating place and may contain a small kitchen table and even the laundry can house a table where clothes may be sorted and briefly stored.

Tables are a vital piece of furniture in the home, they give us a place to eat our meals and hold small items for decorative and storage purposes.
