A curtain can change the way that the interior of the house looks. Perhaps it is one of the most underrated accessory in a house but once you see the difference between an interior that has a good curtain and one that has not, you will fully appreciate the difference.

It was my mother who taught me the value of getting a great curtain. She explained that a house would look bare and unfinished if there is nothing that will adorn the windows. A curtain is also very functional. It can be used to shield the interior of a house so it can not be seen from the outside or to prevent too much sunlight from pouring in from the outside. I still take my mother’s lessons to heart.

Last week I went shopping for a curtain for my house and I picked a couple of Peace and Love curtains. I have been looking for it for a long time now. I liked the idea of connecting in some way to the hippie period. Back then everything seemed so carefree and the people were all so mellow. I love the idea of my house being decorated with something that would be connected with that era.

For my kids bathroom I picked Hot Wheels shower curtain. My kid loves playing with toy cars and RC vehicles and so he was really thrilled to see his bathroom decorated with something like that. Now I would have a lot easier time getting him to shower.

Maybe next month I would be shopping for some new curtains again. I like to change them frequently and it really alters the way that the interior of house looks like. If you want to do the same things for your place try finding some really great curtains and changing them frequently.

It may seem strange to say that you should not buy shower curtains to match your bathroom, however, the problem is that most of our bathrooms are largely white and then an all white shower curtain is the last color you should choose. An all-white and largely neutral bathroom needs an injection of color and if you do not use your shower curtain to provide at least some of that color, you are missing a trick. After all, the curtain is likely to be one of the largest surfaces in the room and one of the first things that strikes your eye when you enter the bathroom, so, you need to make it count.

Unfortunately white and clear shower curtains are best sellers. Perhaps, we are afraid to make mistakes because, of course, these colors go with everything. Being too safe in this case, however, is making a mistake so be courageous and choose a bold color.

Shower curtains are made in some beautiful designs and colors, and perhaps you only need to take a look at the wonderful examples on the web to be inspired to step out of your comfort zone. If you already have colored tiles, then take these into consideration in your choice of design, if you still like them, otherwise there are tile paints on the market which will allow you to change the color of your bathroom tiles very quickly and with little cost.

Only once you chosen a design for your curtain, should you think about color matching in your bathroom. Pick out colors from your curtain for other accessories in the room such as towels, bath rugs and jars of colored bath oil. Make this not about buying a shower curtain to match your bathroom, but about creating a beautifully coordinated bathroom to match your shower curtain.

The alternative to white or clear is to go for a funky shower curtain that has a design that could be considered fun. After all, when you are looking for a way to brighten up a room such as the bathroom colorful shower curtains provide a great opportunity. Take for example a piece of iconic history with a Betty Boop shower curtain or perhaps a more retro 70s design with butterflies or or polka dot shower curtain.

There are any number of adventurous designs that would be more than appropriate to make a fun statement of color and design. We’ve got to consider them more than a means to provide some privacy whilst having a shower.

Stop for a minute and consider who the main users of the bathroom might be and then consider the type of shower curtain that they will most appreciate and then do your bathroom decorating to suit. If it is the bathroom that the kids are going to be using the most, then why not get a Spongebob shower curtain or a fairy shower curtain.

A lot of the fun can be had in experimenting with different colors and looks. After all, a new shower curtain doesn’t cost very much and if you find that one kind of curtain is starting to clash with the rest of the room, change it up and go for something a little more daring, a little more demure or just a little more fun.
