Replacing your kitchen mixer tap assembly is not as difficult as most people make it out to be. Here is a step by step guide that should help you along the way, while you’re venturing through replacing taps kitchen.

The first thing that you need to do, is make sure that the water is turned off below the sink, or at the main source. To do this, you can simply reach under the sink and locate a couple of valves. You will usually turn them counter clockwise to shut them off. Once you believe they are turned off, test the tap. If water comes out, turn the valves the opposite direction.

The second thing that you have to do, is remove the bolts holding the existing tap to the sink. There are usually long bolts hanging down underneath the sink, with nuts and washers attached to them. Most of the time, removing these nuts will be enough to lift the tap out of it’s position. It may take some “finesse” though, so be prepared to use some elbow grease.

Now, you’ll want to pull out your new kitchen mixer tap, and the packaging that has come with it. Inside, there will usually be some seals that you have to install, to ensure that no water can get down below the faucet, into your cabinetry. Slide these over where the instructions guide you to, and then place the new tap down where the old tap was installed.

Repeating the process in reverse, you’re going to want to put the washers back on, and then tighten the nuts down to the bolts that are holding the taps kitchen to the sink. Once you’ve done this, and reinstalled the plumbing lines to the tap, you’re going to want to slowly turn the valves back on at the water source. Look for leaks, and if there are any, slowly tighten them down until they quit.
